4.2 billion in 3rd quarter.

- Google buys YouTube for $1.65 billion, October 9,

- Motorola buys IP STB vendor Kreatel (Sweden) for
at least $67 million Euros, January 17, 2006

Connectivity:
- Only 20% of broadband households (HH) in the US have some

- Motorola maintains its worldwide lead in the IP

- MP3 Players are either owned or rented by 26.7
percent of US households, and 2 1/2 times more likely to own or rent

- PDA are found in 16.4 percent of US households
since 3rd quarter of 2003, PDA ownership has increased by 4.5

- Security:
- 50 million trusted platform modules (TPM)s were

- DVDs are found in 81.2 percent of US households,

Market:
- HDTV
- 15 percent of cable TV subscribers own a HDTV
television set (CTAM)
- 26 percent of US households own a high-definition

- IPTV:
- Worldwide IP set-top box revenue dipped a bit in
the fourth quarter but nearly tripled from 2005 to 2006, reaching

- IPTV service provider revenue jumped 178 percent
in 2006 to $2.8 billion worldwide. (Infonetics Research)
- EMEA is the leading region for IPTV service
revenue, accounting for 49 percent of the worldwide total in 2006,

- VoD
- Viewers spend $1.617 billion on VoD services in

- The portion of US digital cable households that
have used VoD grew to 60 percent. (Leichtman Research)

- The number of IPTV subscribers grew 166 percent

- World wide PON subscribers nearly doubled in

- The mean reported number of programs recorded
each week in a DVR is 11.3 programs recorded per week. (Leichtman

- Web
- The next generation of the Internet has begun and
its called "Web 2.0".
- There are 100 million websites in 2006, up from
18,000 in 1995.
- 12 million US adults are keeping blogs, 57
million are reading them.
Video and Media:
- Video streams in the US hit 7 billion per month.

Market:
- Optical
- By 2006 modest growth is likely when the market
will top $10 billion. (Infonetics Research)
Product or Service Milestones:
- By end of 2006, Cable MSOs will achieve 8 percent
share of the residential telephone market and whereas telcos' will
obtain less than 1 percent of the residential video market.
